The flameless torch is part of the very popular Express product range. It is practical, easy to use and multi-purpose. Easy to carry in its storage case, it’s useful in many different scenarios, whether you are a private individual or a professional.

What can the flameless, self-igniting heat torch be used for?

The flameless, self-igniting heat torch serves as both a heat gun and a blowtorch. You can use it as you would a hot air gun for various jobs, especially for building renovation and all sealing work.

  • Stripping all surfaces: furniture, shutters, PVC floor tiles, paint, window adhesive, wallpaper, etc.
  • Defrosting of locks and pipes.
  • PVC or copper pipe fitting works.
  • Polishing floors and furniture to melt the wax and make it penetrate the wood.
  • Working on cast asphalt structures to bind the bitumen rolls.
  • Working with heat-shrinkable film: wintering of boats, packaging of all sizes, partitioning of areas in the renovation of buildings, etc.

The self-igniting gas heat torch can produce heat up to 900°C, which is suitable for softening PVC pipes. You can then apply the curvature you need for your pipes and fit them together. You can also braze your copper pipes to seal them with tin as a filler metal.

The flameless heat torch can be used in all outdoor conditions, which is an advantage when working in high winds.

Autonomy

With an electric heat gun, you need a mains connection and extension cords, which is not always practical on a construction site. You can also use batteries, but they are heavy and their autonomy is limited.

With a flameless, self-igniting gas torch, depending on your needs, you use a model with a cartridge or a larger model that uses a gas cylinder on a cart. With the small model, you already have 3 hours of autonomy, because the case can hold two cartridges with 1h30 hours of autonomy.

Manoeuvrability

The gas torch can be used in any position, you can turn it on itself and it continues to heat. Thanks to its piezo trigger, you can lock your torch in the lit position and thus free both hands to work more easily.

On some of its models, Express has provided that the cartridge for the self-igniting gas torch can be connected by a hose. If your work is going to take a long time, rather than tiring out your wrist under the weight, you can attach the cartridge to your belt and connect it to your gun with this flexible hose. On the other hand, if you have to work in hard-to-reach corners, the use of the hose allows you to manipulate the gun yourself. It becomes less cumbersome and can be moved around more easily.

Working with flame can be dangerous in certain environments and regulations are becoming increasingly strict. For example, in some countries, you are no longer allowed to use it under roofs for any carpentry work.

On the other hand, when you work in renovation, you often deal with old, easily flammable materials, especially in insulation. Your customer may also refuse to allow you to use a lit blowtorch, as a simple precautionary measure.

Finally, if you are working in ATEX zones (EXplosive ATmospheres) that contain sensitive materials, you can only use a system that does not produce a flame.

A flameless gas torch is often a good replacement for a conventional gas torch and offers you all the comfort you need to work in the best conditions.
